Granite is built so that your training data never leaves your phone.
What we collect
Nothing. Granite does not collect, transmit or store your personal data on any server. There are no accounts. There is no sign-in.
What stays on your device
Everything you enter — your profile, your goals, your injuries, your logged sessions, and the coaching decisions Granite makes about your training — is stored locally on your iPhone. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.
Coaching decisions are made on your device. Granite does not send your training data to any external service in order to generate your programme or your weekly review. Where a coaching note is written by AI, it uses Apple Intelligence, which runs the model on your iPhone — nothing is sent to Apple, to us, or to any other company. There is no cloud AI.
Microphone and camera
If you dictate a note to your coach, it is transcribed entirely on your device; if the phone can't transcribe on-device, dictation simply isn't offered and you type instead. If you use form check, your lift is analysed live on your device through the camera. In both cases the audio and video never leave your phone and are never recorded or sent anywhere.
Analytics and tracking
Granite contains no analytics, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party tracking of any kind.
The one thing Granite fetches
For completeness, Granite does make a single request to the internet, and it is worth describing precisely. When you open the subscription screen, the app reads one small file from granite.coach to find out whether the founding-member price is still available. That is the whole of it.
The request carries nothing about you: no identifier, no account, no training data, nothing from your logbook. It is the same file for everyone who asks, so it cannot tell one person from another, and it is not used for analytics. If it fails, the founding price simply isn't offered. Everything else in Granite — your programme, your weekly review, your coaching — is written on your phone whether or not you have an internet connection at all.
Your data, your device
Because your data lives only on your phone, it is protected by your device's own security. If you delete Granite, your data is deleted with it. We cannot recover it, because we never had it.
Health information
What you record about injuries, pain and training load is health-related information. It is treated on the same principle as everything else: it stays on your device.
If you choose to connect Apple Health, Granite reads a few recovery signals — heart-rate variability, resting heart rate and sleep — to sharpen your daily readiness, and writes your finished sessions back as workouts so they count toward your Activity rings. That is the only thing it writes; your readiness signals are only ever read. It does all of this on your device and transmits none of it anywhere. You choose exactly what to share in Apple's own permission sheet, you can decline either part, and Granite works fine without any of it.
Granite is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, and it is not a substitute for advice from a doctor or physiotherapist.
Purchases
A subscription is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Granite never sees your name, card or payment details — it only learns from Apple whether your subscription is active, so it can unlock the paid features. We collect no purchase data ourselves.
Children
Granite is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. As it collects no information from anyone, this is straightforward.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of Granite offers a feature that requires sending data off your device, that feature will be optional, you will be asked for explicit consent before it is enabled, and this policy will be updated to describe exactly what is sent and to whom. We will not make that change quietly.
